Meet the Team

At ShimSpine, we offer a personalized experience when it comes to the evaluation and treatment of spine related problems. Our approach redefines customer service and integrity in medicine. Unlike most traditional physician practices, patients are able to spend quality time with the physician to discuss their spine related problems, without having to rush and without having to spend time sitting idle in a waiting room. This affords the patient the opportunity to develop a better relationship with the physician. In this relaxed environment, Dr. John Shim is able to gain a clear understanding of the problem and offer the patient education regarding their condition(s) and recommendations for further testing and treatment, utilizing an evidenced based approach. At ShimSpine, treatment options are based on proven procedures that have a high degree of predictability and successful outcomes and are not limited by health insurance carrier’s guidelines or policies.

Originally from New York and then off to Emory University and University of Alabama. Jason has been with Dr. Shim for 21 years. He facilitates patient care, does pre and post-op teaching, assists in surgery, and is the “go to guy” in the practice for pretty much everything. He is a published author for spine magazines and is a fan of college football (Roll Tide Roll), Krav Maga, and discovering new craft beers. He enjoys spending time with his family.

Cathie comes from Nova Scotia and has been nursing in Florida for 22 years. She has worked in Spine Surgery for over 15 years, in and out of the operating room. She presently sees patients, assists in surgery and does pre and post op teaching. She is also “social director” of the practice, writes blogs for Shimspine.com and loves to read and kayak in her spare time.

Catie also hails from Michigan and has been in Florida for 12 years. She is the first and last person you see and talk to at ShimSpine. She answers phones, makes appointments, follows up with patients, and keep us all entertained with stories of her 3 children. She is a roller skater, a “Cheer-mom”, and a wife. She has no free time.

Kristin has been in Florida since she was 3 years old and has worked in medicine for the last 24 years. The last 16 years has been with this surgical group. She presently coordinates patient appointments, manages Dr. Shim’s schedule, and keeps us all in line. She enjoys spending her spare time with her family and a multitude of pets.

Originally from Lansing, Michigan and a graduate of Michigan State University, Shelley has been in Florida for 6 years. She is responsible for financial planning and record keeping as well as financial reporting to higher management. She enjoys spending time with her family (especially her grandchildren), running, biking, reading and knitting.
